Welcome Address

from the desk of the Principal

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our world in St. Patrick’s College, Asaba.
St. Patrick’s College, Asaba was founded in 1944 by the great Irish Missionary, Bishop Patrick Kelly. The Choice location of the College at the bank of River Niger earned it the nomenclature, Varsity on the Niger.
Our goal in the college is to train young men to be strong academically, morally, physically, spiritually and otherwise to be able to face serious challenges in the future. Their training is coloured with Christian sentiments as we try to build their life around daily celebration of the Eucharist and moral instructions. Our campus flowing from what we do is rightfully referred to as Domus Dei (house of God).
In St. Patrick’s College, our boys live like friends and brothers. Love and fraternity is our watchword. The guiding dictum are the words of our divine Lord,

“You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles Lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you, but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For the Son of Man also came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as ransom for many.”  – (Mk 10:42-45)

In this community of service, such attitudes like bullying, discrimination and such behaviours inimical to Christian sentiments are completely shunned. Every Child is treated uniquely and given individual attention and of course assisted to grow and develop his potentials.
